107th Anniversary Convention | 92nd General Convention

Hilton Austin 500 E. 4th St, Austin, TX, United States

MY ALPHA BROTHERS, All roads are leading to the "Live Music Capital of the World" for our 107th Anniversary Convention/92nd General Convention. I am expecting great things and good times for you and your families. In accordance with Article II, Section 5, of the Constitution of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, I do hereby issue the "Official Call" for the men of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity to convene in the City of Austin, Texas, at the Hilton Austin Hotel. The official convention dates are Wednesday, June 26–Sunday, June 30, 2013. Our fraternity has recently faced challenges, but we must rally the men of Alpha to act as one. My charge now is for us to come together and chart a course for what lies ahead, reinforce the trust with each other, and have success while making an impact. During this convention, we will make some tough decisions. I am counting on you, my brothers, to invest in Alpha. I am counting on you, my brothers, to come prepared to work together as one. This convention will not be consumed with all work. Make plans to attend the Miss Black & Gold Pageant, Hobart Jarrett Debate Competition, Collegiate Scholars Bowl Competition, National Collegiate Step Show, and the many parties and hospitality receptions hosted by the brotherhood and our corporate partners. You and your family will also have time to enjoy what the great city of Austin has to offer. The brothers of Delta Chapter (Huston-Tillotson University), Epsilon Iota Chapter (University of Texas-Austin), Mu Nu (Texas State University-San Marcos) and Gamma Eta Lambda Chapter are preparing to show everyone a good time. We will end the convention with our Black & Gold Awards Banquet. This year, every registered college brother will receive a ticket to the black-tie gala. I expect all brothers and their guests to attend and be prepared to take a historic fraternal photo. Remember, the Alpha investment is about both college and alumni brothers participating and working together as one. My brothers, be safe, and I look forward to seeing you in Austin. Fraternally, Mark S. Tillman General President
