With over 40 years of rich history, Ailey II embodies Mr. Ailey’s pioneering mission to establish an extended cultural community that provided dance performances, training, and community programs for all people using the beauty and humanity of the African American heritage and other cultures to unite people of all races, ages, and backgrounds. History, Mission, and Goals of the Foundation

The Gamma Theta Lambda Education Foundation, Inc. (www.gtledf.org) was formed in 2000. The foundation’s purpose is to support the continuing academic development of high school and college students by providing financial assistance in the form of scholarship awards; to support the leadership development of students through conducting and funding seminars and conferences in the area; and to support the personal and social development of high school students through the implementation and funding of programs such as Project Alpha, a curriculum aimed at increasing the knowledge of African-American males about the consequences of teenage pregnancy from the male perspective in cooperation with March of Dimes; Go to High School – Go to College, a program that seeks to prevent high school dropouts and encourage attending college through goal setting, career guidance/counseling, and mentorship/tutoring.
