With unapologetic pride and profound respect, the Eastern Region of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Incorporated proudly celebrates the birthday of the Commissioned Corps of the United States Public Health Service—a uniformed service whose legacy is inseparable from
the strength and resilience of this nation. Tracing its roots to 1798 with the Marine Hospital Service and formally commissioned in 1889, the Corps now stands over two centuries strong,
embodying discipline, science, and service at the highest level.

For more than 225 years, and for well over a century as a commissioned uniformed service, USPHS officers have exemplified excellence, courage, and readiness—standing boldly on the front lines of epidemics, disasters, humanitarian missions, research, and community protection.

These officers answer the nation’s call wherever duty demands, advancing public health, safeguarding lives, and leading with integrity in moments of calm and crisis alike.

This is a service defined not by accolades, but by action—resolute in adversity, fearless in leadership, and unwavering in its commitment to service before self.

Today, we proudly boast of the Corps’ origins, its unmatched impact, and its enduring mission. Happy Birthday to a

We condemn the acts of hatred and violence that occurred at Brown University this weekend. Our hearts are with the victims and families affected by this tragedy.

We are grateful to report that all Brothers of Alpha Gamma Chapter and members of Divine 9 organizations on campus are safe and accounted for.

Special recognition to Bro. Uzoma Meremikwu, President of Alpha Gamma Chapter and Student Body President Bro. Talib Reddick, for leading the effort to establish mutual aid resources for the Brown community.

The trauma from this senseless act will have lasting effects. We pray for healing and stand in solidarity with all students and faculty affected.
